Since there's been a flurry of activity recently, I figured I'd finally submit a PR with my shape geom that has been part of Plots. Here's a usage example:

using Gadfly
x = 0.1:0.2:0.9
y = 0.7 * rand(5) + 0.15
 verts = [(-1.0,1.0),(-1.28,0.6),(-0.2,-1.4),(0.2,-1.4),(1.28,0.6),(1.0,1.0),(-1.0,1.0),(-0.2,-0.6),(0.0,-0.2),(-0.4,0.6),(1.28,0.6),(0.2,-1.4),(-0.2,-1.4),(0.6,0.2),(-0.2,0.2),(0.0,-0.2),(0.2,0.2),(-0.2,-0.6)]
plot(x=x, y=y, Geom.shape(verts), Theme(default_point_size = 30px, panel_fill=colorant"black"))

I obviously don't use Gadfly anymore, so this should be considered "as-is", meaning I don't intend to extend or maintain it.
